Lesson notes

1. What this lesson is for

A viewer should recognize your video in the feed before they read your name. That comes from a small, reusable visual system - colors, fonts, logo rules and text presets - applied the same way every time. In this lesson you build that system and save it so each new video starts from your style, not from a blank timeline.

This is where the module deliverable comes together: one branded caption preset pack (titles, lower thirds, subtitles, CTA), built on the readability rules from lessons 2.1 and 2.2. Readability still beats decoration - a brand that is hard to read is not a brand, it is noise.

2. Color palette and font pairings

  • Palette - keep it small: one primary color, one accent, plus a light and a dark neutral for text and boxes. Write down the hex codes; "roughly that blue" drifts across videos.
  • Contrast - test every text/background pair you plan to use. A beautiful accent that fails contrast on white can only be used as a box or highlight, not as text.
  • Fonts - one family for body and subtitles, optionally one display font for titles. Two families total is the practical maximum; too many font families is a listed pitfall.
  • Licensing - if you use a font outside CapCut's built-in library, make sure its license covers commercial video. Built-in fonts and their availability can change between versions and regions.

Fill in a brand kit table like this one and keep it next to your project files:

Element Primary variant Secondary variant Usage rule
Primary color#1E6FFF (blue)#0B3A8C (dark blue)Title boxes, progress bars; never as small text on dark video
Accent color#FFC83D (yellow)-One highlighted keyword per caption, CTA box

Title fontDisplay sans, boldSame, regularHook headline and section titles only
Body / subtitle fontSans, mediumSans, bold for emphasisSubtitles, labels, lower thirds
LogoFull-color markWhite mono markMono on busy footage, max ~8% of frame width
Intro / outro1 s logo sting2-3 s end card with CTAIntro optional on short-form; never before the hook

3. Logo placement and intro/outro rules

  • Place the logo in one fixed corner, inside the safe area (see the 9:16 safe-zone diagram in lesson 2.1). Top-left is common because the right edge is covered by platform buttons.
  • Keep it small and quiet: reduced opacity or a mono version. The logo identifies, the content persuades.
  • On short-form, the hook comes first. A long branded intro before the first sentence costs you viewers. If you use an intro, keep it under about 1 s or put the brand sting after the hook.
  • Use one outro format per series: the same CTA wording pattern, the same position, the same duration.

4. Style governance: master, formats, series

Do not design every video from scratch, and do not force one layout on every format. Use three levels: a master style that never changes, format presets that adapt it to an aspect ratio, and small per-series adaptations.

Master style palette, fonts, logo, case rule 9:16 presets bigger text, raised subtitles 16:9 presets lower thirds, bottom subtitles 1:1 presets centered titles Series: "Quick tips" Series: "Deep dives" Series may change: accent use, title wording, sting. Not fonts. Changes flow downward only: update the master, then regenerate presets.

5. Saving text style presets

CapCut lets you save text styles, and in many versions whole text templates, so you can re-apply them in one click. The exact name (saved style, preset, favorites, "My styles") and where it appears in the Text panel differ between desktop, mobile and web builds, and team brand-kit features may depend on your plan. Look for a save or favorite option on a selected text layer, and confirm where saved items show up in your version.

  • Save one preset per role: hook title, section title, lower third, subtitle, highlighted keyword, CTA.
  • Name presets systematically so they sort together and you can tell format and version apart.
  • For layouts CapCut cannot store as a style (for example a title plus a box plus a logo), keep a small "brand master" project with each element on the timeline and copy from it, or save it as a template if your version supports that.
  • Document every preset in a spec file outside CapCut, so you can rebuild it if a preset is lost after an update or on another device.

6. Template consistency checklist

PRESET LIBRARY CHECK
[ ] Title cards saved (hook + section) for each format you publish
[ ] Lower-third variants saved (one line / two lines)
[ ] Subtitle preset + keyword highlight preset saved and documented
[ ] CTA / end card saved
[ ] Spec file updated with names, fonts, colors, sizes, positions

CONSISTENCY REVIEW (apply the kit to two different topics)
VIDEO TOPIC SAME FONTS SAME COLORS LOGO POS SUB POS CTA FORMAT
tips_ep07 audio cleanup yes yes TL ok ok
tips_ep08 color grading yes NO (accent TL ok ok
                                                used as text on white)
FIX: ep08 - accent only as box/highlight, per usage rule

Maintenance. Some style elements age quickly: trendy animations, meme fonts, and heavy effects. Palette, fonts and logo usually last years. Review the kit on a fixed schedule - for example every 6 months or every 30 videos - and ask: which elements feel dated, which presets nobody uses, and which rules were broken most often?

7. Exercise

  1. Fill in the brand kit table for your channel: palette with hex codes, two fonts at most, logo variants and intro/outro rules.
  2. Build and save six presets for 9:16: hook title, section title, lower third, subtitle, keyword highlight and CTA. Write the preset spec file.
  3. Apply the kit to two videos on different topics and fill in the consistency review.
  4. Export both and view them side by side on a phone. Would a stranger see they come from the same channel?
  5. Retrospective: which element would age fastest, and when will you next review the kit? This preset pack is your module deliverable.
